California Exotics featured in New York Times

05.02.2015 | Los Angeles, California, USA – Susan Colvin, President and CEO of California Exotic Novelties, talks to the New York Times about products that tie-in to the Fifty Shades Craze. The interview was part of the article titled: Sex Toy Shops Prepare for Tie-Ins to ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’.

Colvin explains, “We were contacted by the New York Times to contribute and we gladly provided them with insights, information, and the inside scoop about California Exotic Novelties’ products that relate to the Fifty Shades Craze. The article is another avenue of educating and informing the public about pleasure products, and that’s something we proudly support.” With the movie coming out Valentine’s Day weekend, the New York Times’ story looks at ways manufacturers and retailers are preparing their product selection and inventories. In 2013, the release of the books created a large boost in sales of light fetish gear and pleasure balls. While it is unclear what items may or may not be featured in the movie, companies in the pleasure product industry are getting ready.

enticeColvin discusses the release of new items in the award-winning Scandal Collection with the New York Times. Additionally, California Exotic Novelties offers the latest from Entice Accessories, which is also available now for retailers to stock. The increase in sales of Kegel Balls also was a topic in the article. Prior to the release of the book, California Exotic Novelties sold 80,000 to 90,000 units on average per year. After the book’s debut, the world’s largest pleasure product manufacturer sold a million within six months. California Exotic Novelties recommends stocking up on items like the Posh Silicone “O” Balls, The Vanity Vr1 by Jopen, and the Embrace Love Balls, among others.

Colvin adds, “Though we’ve heard that the movie doesn’t feature love balls, we know the books sent sales skyrocketing. With the entire Fifty Shades Phenomenon revitalized, it is a good bet for retailers to be well-stocked with the balls, as well as light fetish play wear from collections like Scandal and Entice Accessories.” To find out more about California Exotic Novelties’s products, visit www.CalExotics.com.
