Hustler and Doc Johnson Celebrate Successful WonderLand VIP Event

On Thursday, November 15th, a select group of VIP guests gathered to celebrate Doc Johnson’s WonderLand Collection at Hustler Hollywood in West Hollywood. Attendees included adult entertainment personalities, adult novelty founders and media, Hustler and Doc Johnson VIP shoppers and contest winners.

The invitation-only event was held in honor of the WonderLand Collection, which was showcased throughout the party by custom art created by Doc Johnson’s art department, both oversized and actual functioning product, and costumed Hustler Honeys, as well as costumed guests! The centerpiece of the soiree was the 25-foot wide window display for the WonderLand Collection, which features oversized 3D renderings of the five WonderLand character massagers highlighted with additional subtle textural and 3D elements. Guests entered the red carpet and posed for photos in front of the window as well as the step and repeat.

“It’s a great display that’s very artistic and I think it is attracting lots of visitors into the store,” Hustler founder and industry icon Larry Flynt told XBiz. “I think the event was greatly successful. Doc Johnson has been in the business a long time and so have we, so we all try to work together.”

Alongside several members of the Doc Johnson team who toasted to their work in designing WonderLand, its creative marketing aesthetics and sales efforts, other notable party guests included adult retail industry figures including Theresa Flynt, Bonnie Feingold (owner of Honeys Place), and adult entertainment legends Nina Hartley and Ron Jeremy, among others. The extravagant party setup also featured an open bar which served a Wonderland-themed menu of drinks and featured sponsors Karma Tequila, Stone Brewery, Moreno Sparkling Wine, Hubert’s Lemonade and O.N.E. Coconut Water. Desserts were provided by Cake and Art of West Hollywood. Guests each received a gift bag courtesy of Doc Johnson, Hustler Hollywood, and additional sponsors. All were invited to partake in games of blackjack provided by Hustler Casino, with a gaming area and tables provided; as well as the DJ that kept everyone in a dancing mood. In addition to the fantastical décor and engaging activities, another highlight was the progression of a painted lady throughout the evening; the model was on display though out the entire painting process and the completed Mad-Hatter inspired outfit was revealed towards the end of the event. The party was scheduled to run till 10pm, but with such an enthusiastic crowd and packed house, the doors did not close till 11pm.

“The event was a lot of work on our part and we definitely wanted to do it for Wonderland because I think especially with an event like this, with a window like this and a line like this, the idea behind this line is so consumer driven,” Doc Johnson COO Chad Braverman told XBIZ. “It’s one of the first things that Doc has done that’s been really successful on the B2C side. Consumers are really interested in it, and really excited about the collection, they identify with it. It has this built-in fan base that already exists. To our credit, I think we have designed some great product, excellent packaging, and the price is perfect for the market. With that consumer base already built in, we want to capitalize on that as much as possible and do events like this that are not only B2B events. We have Hustler VIPs and people that won Twitter and Facebook contests with us throughout the month all here with us tonight. We’re aiming to engage the consumer and that’s good for us because that’s not something that we do normally.”

Preparations for the event began in September with the Marketing team developing the color story, details of the theme, and cultivating sponsor relationships. The success of the event hinged on the work of a new team headed by Doc Johnson’s Director of Marketing and Public Relations, Victoria Bowman-Steinour; Marketing Coordinator Evan Cohen and Visual Merchandiser Krystal Silva joined Doc Johnson in August of this year, and Elisabeth Hartman, Marketing Assistant, joined in September; all were integral to the event’s success.

The window can been seen through December on Sunset Boulevard, and is not the only collaboration between Hustler Hollywood and Doc Johnson. Additionally, Doc Johnson has also designed WonderLand in-store displays to be in place for the months of November and December in all 14 Hustler Hollywood retail locations nationwide.
